Bob
Battjes is President of Battjes
Pontiac, Inc. in Elkhart. Bob is a
native of Elkhart and wanted to follow in the footsteps of his auto
dealer relatives since high school. The
family’s first dealership was opened in 1949 and his grandfather, father and
mother were all car dealers prior to Battjes approval in 1987. Bob said one of his greatest accomplishments
in the industry was changing the dealership’s sales approach to “one price” and
has won several sales awards as a result of this fresh approach. Bob is Finance Committee Chairman for the
Elkhart Salvation Army; vice president of the Greyhound Companions of Indiana;
and a Paul Harris Fellow in the Elkhart Noon Rotary Club. He was named a recipient of the 1999 TIME
Magazine Dealer Award. A graduate of
Hillsdale College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and business
administration, Bob lives in Elkhart with his wife Trudy and their two sons.

Joe Craig is GM and President
of Craig Buick, Pontiac, GMC & Toyota in Madison, Indiana. Before joining the family business in January
of 1991, Joe worked as a Staff Accountant at a local CPA firm, and was
controller for 11 years at Madison Bank & Trust Company. He has served on the board of several
Community organizations such as The United Way, Chamber of Commerce, and a
founding Director of the Community Foundation.
In 1996 Joe was recognized as the Community Service Award winner for the
Chamber of Commerce. Craig Toyota was
established in 1969 and is the oldest Toyota dealership in
Indiana. As a Toyota dealer, Joe served
two terms as a dealer council representative to the Chicago Toyota Regional
office. He attended Indiana University
Southeast and graduated from General Motors Dealership Management course in
August of 1992. Joe resides in Madison with his wife Susan and sons Patrick and
Benjamin. |

Marty Kendrick is President of Kendrick
Buick, Cadillac, Nissan in Lafayette. His father, Dan Kendrick, started the
dealership in 1970. Marty began his
career in the auto industry in 1984 and became dealer principal in 1996 when he
purchased the dealership from Dan. He
earned his B.S. at Xavier
University, Cincinnati
in 1980 and graduated from the NADA Dealer Candidate Academy in 1985. His
community involvement includes Member of Lafayette, Indiana and U.S. Chambers
of Commerce, past board member Cerebral Palsy Assn. of Lafayette, and past
board member United
Way of
Greater Lafayette. He has been involved
with the United Way Campaign since 1985, was Chairman in 1996 and has been a
10-year sponsor of All-Buick Car Show benefiting the Community and
Family Resource Center (A United Way Agency).
Marty and his wife Kyle have three children; Jack, Lucy and Isabelle.
